Club History

1901 - The Club was founded in 1901 and the first minute book shows the first meeting of the club was on the 5th March 1901 when a number of persons interested in forming a bowling club in Inverkeithing met in Sims Hall, High Street, Inverkeithing with Provost James Sim presiding. A site had been granted by the Earl of Elgin and the Club had been offered turf from land belonging to the Earl of Hopetoun and from Inverkeithing Town Council. The membership fee was agreed as ten shillings.The following were enrolled as members, John Gibson, Robert Telford, Donald Stewart, James Forrester, Captain James Potter, James Strachan, Joseph Watson, John R Menzies, Daniel Crow, David M Scott, John Lambert, Samuel Stoddart, James D Wyllie, William Hutton, Thomas Ellis, Provost James Sim, Doctor Philp, Walter Campbell, Thomas Carr and Thomas Strachan. The first seventeen named were appointed to act as a committee with the first President being Provost James Sim.

1902 - The Club minutes show the committee adopted a set of rules at a meeting on 18th April 1902 and on 23rd July 1902 James J Smith Dhuloch opened the green. Mr Smith was presented by a Silver Jack by Provost Sim. After the opening ceremony seven ends were played and as well as members from Inverkeithing there were also members from Dunfermline, Dunfermline North, Charlestown, Townhill, Crossgates, Aberdour and Hopetoun. The minutes show a Grand Bazaar was held on the 18th and 19th July to raise funds for the green and a Clubhouse.

1903 - The Club house was built at a cost of £156 and on 19th August 1903 was officially opened by Provost Sim. After the opening ceremony a game was played and both males and females took part. The minute book also shows prizewinners and the draws for the clubs first competitions, The Presidents Prize won by James Forrester and the Vice Presidents Prize won by D M Scott. Other games were Inverkeithing v Crossgates and Inverkeithing v Kelty with wins for Inverkeithing in both. There was also a game of points won by James Forrester and a Married v Unmarried members game that was won by the Married members. Pairs Competition was won by J Livingstone & W Campbell.

1904 - A minute on 23rd June 1904 shows the club were presented with 2 gold charms as prizes for a pairs competition from a Mr Carr. The club were also offered a gents umbrella and this was to be presented as a second prize in the Vice Presidents Prize Competition.

1906 - The AGM minute on 21st March 1906 shows that the Club agreed to become members of the Scottish Bowling Association and to take part in the competitions run by the SBA. The competitions were the rink and single hand competitions.

1908 - The AGM minute on 10th March 1908 shows the club agreed to join the Fifeshire Bowling Association and play in their competitions and the minute of meeting on 6th May 1908 shows the selection of 2 skips for the Fifeshire Tournament and 3 skips for the Gilmour Trophy.

1919 - Minutes of AGM show it was agreed to have a Ladies Section but no voice in the transactions of the business of the club, however in 1949 the Ladies Section were inaugurated fully.

1959 - Masonic Trophy donated by Mr Ramage to be played for by members of Lodge St John No60 who were members of IBC or other bowling clubs.

1962 - Nan Young to be accorded an informal Civic Reception on 5th October for winning Scottish Ladies Single Hand Championship.

1964 - Minutes show the Club formed a Junior Section and also applied for a Bar Licence for the Club. 

1966 - Minutes show a gaming machine to be installed in club.

1999 - Ladies Section celebrate their Silver Jubilee.

2001 - Club celebrates its Centenary.

2010 - Ross Junor selected for Scotland U25 international team.

2015 - Scottish Triples Success at Scottish Finals at Northfield Ayr. The Triple of David Junor, Mark Neil and Gary Tate won the Scottish Triples beating Hyndland in the final.

2022 - Aaron Miller selected for Scottish U18 international team.

2023 - Aaron Miller selected for Scottish U18 and U25 international teams.

2023 - Scottish Youth Single Hand Success at Scottish Finals at Northfield Ayr. Aaron Miller won the Scottish Youth Single Hand Championship.

2024 - Aaron Miller selected for Scottish U25 international team.

2024 - Frazer Lees selected for Scottish U18 international team.
